One of the best things about a theme party for me is enjoying all of the incidentals that go with it: the “staying in the mode” through the inspiration of the books, films, posters, TV shows, music, and whatever else is out there. The Travel Gear posts will showcase things which keep us inspired.
When I was a kid, one of my favorite afternoon cartoon series was Journey to the Center of the Earth. Although the Filmation series’ first run aired on ABC between 1967-1969 (before I was born), it was re-aired in syndication in the early 1970s—I match the memory of watching this with being in Kindergarten, so I couldn’t have been more than five or so.
One of my favorite things to do was role-play this game in our yard. I always thought of myself as the character of Cindy.
Unfortunately, Episode 5 is the last one available on YouTube, and I know that no one, at least as of right now, is planning on releasing the full series on DVD. So for now, this is it.
