Okay, it’s the day after the wedding and as you read this we’re probably packing up to come home (and take a two-day breather and then it’s off to Walt Disney World for our Honeymoon). Of course, in a few … Continue reading

Disney'sHauntedMansionWeddingCakeDisplay4

If you’ve not read that our cake differs in theme from the wedding and all about my quest for Cake Toppers, then you don’t know that we’re doing a cake inspired by Disney’s HauntedMansion attraction. It turns out our bakery … Continue reading

On our Howe Caverns Planning Trip, one of the necessary appointments was for a cake tasting—since we are working with Villa Italia Pasticceria in Schenectady (local to Howe), we needed to taste, select, and make arrangements for our cake in … Continue reading

The sun sets on Howe Caverns’ main building, March 15, 2012. The patio is where our ceremony will take place; the sun reflects off the windows of the room in which our reception will be held.

With Maryanne Profeta, assemble and decorate the Favor Boxes. Contract for Howe Caverns arrives. Nathan and I read it through, discuss, organize our questions and celebrate! Deliver Favor Boxes to Howe Caverns. Nathan and I make a few adjustments to … Continue reading

We’re Off to Howe Caverns!

Nathan and I stand on the bridal altar in Howe Caverns, August, 2010. There's a legend behind this...I'll share it in a later post.

As you’re reading this Nathan and I are on our way up to Howe Caverns to finalize some plans for the wedding.

We’ll be staying at the on-property hotel, and our schedule’s pretty full. We’ll be finalizing reception plans with Howe Caverns’ Anne-Marie and Joanne, cake-tasting (Nathan can’t wait) at the Villa Italia bakery, and meeting our Officiant. We also plan on taking another tour of the Caverns—it’s unlikely we’ll have time to do it the weekend of the wedding.

We’re excited to finalize…and we’re excited to have a little bit of down-time. I think there is no Wi-Fi!

We’ll be back in town this weekend.

Awesome!

The pile of mail that greeted me when I got home from the Norman Mailer Writer's Colony. It was the most fun I'd had opening mail in a long time!

Select a shell, dropped by the seagulls, from Norman’s back porch to put into our rock collection. Guy Wolfe, at the NMWC, selects a rock as his contribution. On the day I leave Norman’s, receive an e-mail from David’s Bridal: … Continue reading

Questing for Cake Toppers

The Bride, from the Haunted Mansion line.

I, like many people I’m sure, am a perfectionist, especially when it comes to planning theme parties. I have a vision in my head, and I do the best I can to make it work the way I’d envisioned. Yet … Continue reading
