Return to RubyOtt Barbecue

WeddingBBQInvites1

Since this is a destination wedding, we’re combining the rehearsal dinner with a general “Welcome Barbecue” for all guests—people, we thought, might be tired after their long journey, why not offer those not in the Bridal Party an opportunity for … Continue reading

Travel Log: March 9 – 23

The sun sets on Howe Caverns’ main building, March 15, 2012. The patio is where our ceremony will take place; the sun reflects off the windows of the room in which our reception will be held.

With Maryanne Profeta, assemble and decorate the Favor Boxes. Contract for Howe Caverns arrives. Nathan and I read it through, discuss, organize our questions and celebrate! Deliver Favor Boxes to Howe Caverns. Nathan and I make a few adjustments to … Continue reading

We’re Off to Howe Caverns!

Nathan and I stand on the bridal altar in Howe Caverns, August, 2010. There's a legend behind this...I'll share it in a later post.

As you’re reading this Nathan and I are on our way up to Howe Caverns to finalize some plans for the wedding.

We’ll be staying at the on-property hotel, and our schedule’s pretty full. We’ll be finalizing reception plans with Howe Caverns’ Anne-Marie and Joanne, cake-tasting (Nathan can’t wait) at the Villa Italia bakery, and meeting our Officiant. We also plan on taking another tour of the Caverns—it’s unlikely we’ll have time to do it the weekend of the wedding.

We’re excited to finalize…and we’re excited to have a little bit of down-time. I think there is no Wi-Fi!

We’ll be back in town this weekend.

Awesome!

Fun Appointments Coming Up!

Dad'sJourneyBook

If you know me at all, then you know I’m busy. Crazy-busy. All the time. So I don’t always welcome new additions to my appointment book, as I can barely keep up with stuff as it is. (Not that I … Continue reading

And then…a brighter idea!

The lanterns Howe Caverns sells in their gift shop as souvenirs. Perfect, perfect, perfect…

The date: January 25. When Anne-Marie mentioned a theme and centerpieces for the Rehearsal Dinner on January 24, I’d come up with the ‘our camp inSalisbury’ idea and explained it on the phone, finishing it up with “I’ll figure something … Continue reading

Travel Log: February 1-15, 2012

The Wedding Garter Confirmation Page. I won't be posting pix of the item; we'll keep something for a surprise!

Purchase Nathan’s wedding gift; L’Aura gives me a great idea regarding that! Order: From Vistaprint, the “Mr. & Mrs.” labels for our post-wedding thank-you notes and announcements. Just wait for a sale on Vistaprint, and everything’s cheaper! I got 280 … Continue reading

Rehearsal Dinner Location

An artist's rendering of the completed Pavilion at Howe Caverns. It was under construction last year and is due to be completed this spring. This will be the location for the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. The Pavilion will allow Howe Caverns to hold larger events, such as weddings with more than 100 guests (since the indoor reception room can't really hold more than that); it has full electricity and everything.

One of the most amazing moments in this planning process came when Anne-Marie Galasso, our Howe Caverns Wedding Coordinator (I’ll talk more about her in future posts—I have LOTS to catch up on), took a blind stab at doing something … Continue reading
